Case study: Tooheys New Crew
The Tooheys New Crew, a team of skilled tradies and good mates headed-up by rugby league legend Paul “The Chief” Harragon, have hit the road to do a million beers worth of favours for Australian communities.
The crew are looking for building projects that will make a lasting difference to communities in the Tooheys New Heartland of NSW. They will do anything from renovating a local sporting facility, to sprucing up a community centre or improving a run-down recreational area – all at no cost and as a favour to the local community.
Where they go and what they do is up to the residents of NSW – anyone can ask the Crew for a favour for their community at tooheysnew.com.au.
Harragon says the Tooheys New Crew is all about the spirit of Aussie mateship and helping out a mate in need.
“There are so many worthy projects in communities everywhere that are delayed or not completed due to a lack of funding,” he said. “I’m excited to be a part of the Tooheys New Crew because of the positive impact it will have on Australian communities, and I’m looking forward to lending a hand to many worthwhile projects in the years to come.”
Call for public submissions officially launched on 3 December but the Tooheys New Crew couldn’t wait to get started and have already been working on two very worthwhile projects.
The team has been busy renovating the not-for-profit Currajong Disability Centre in Parkes, the only centre within a 100km radius to provide disability and community services to people living in the Parkes, Forbes, Condobolin Shires and surrounding areas. The crew will also be upgrading the Tuxford Park sports field facilities in Shortland, Newcastle, home of the Shortland Devils senior rugby league team and countless other local sporting teams.
Anyone can ask the Tooheys New Crew for a favour and they’re waiting to hear from communities all over NSW now. Project ideas can be submitted online at tooheysnew.com.au or facebook.com/TooheysNew.
