supermarket dairyWe have produced a number of submissions and engaged with various industry bodies, including Dairy Australia, The Brewers Association of Australia & New Zealand Inc, the Australian Food and Grocery Council and the Australian Association of National Advertisers, to help drive effective and appropriate regulation and policy.

Submissions made in 2010 include:

  • LNNF consultation paper for the Food Labelling Law and Policy Review (May 2010)
  • NHMRC ‘A New Food Guidance System for Australia: Foundation and Total Diets’ (May 2010)
  • Consultation paper reviewing the Nutrient Reference Values in the Food Standards Code (July 2010)
  • Consultation paper for the ‘Australian Health Survey’ (July 2010)
  • AFGC ‘Code of Practice for Food Labelling and Promotion’ (Aug-Nov 2010).

In addition, National Foods contributed to the initial work undertaken on the Australian Food and Grocery Council’s Healthier Australia Commitment initiative. This promotes food industry collaboration with government on activities to further reduce the incidence of preventable chronic diseases.
